Shoney's is a privately held restaurant chain headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. It operates restaurants in 17 states, primarily in the South with additional locations in the Midwest and lower Mid-Atlantic states.

Barbra L from Missouri shares her experience at Shoney's in a review published by TRIP ADVISOR: Do not eat here unless you like cold half-cooked food or a salad bar that the veggies are super soft and the coleslaw is spoiled the Salisbury steak is left in greasy water not fully cooked the wait staff is uncaring to the fact that the food in is such bad shape just a nasty place to eat. the restrooms had a smell that is like something died in there.

Former Employee - IT Support says

"No IT planning. Antiquated operating systems and technology. Horrible benefits. A couple of employees had been there over 30 years and still had only 2 weeks vacation and 2 sick days."

Former Employee - General Manager says

"Way To many to list"

Former Employee - Server says

"You do all work with no pay you might make 20 dollars a day and you are doing everyone's job and it you dont get tipped enough you have to claim at least minimum wage if u dont u get wrote up."

Former Employee - Server says

"Horrible foh manager there. She was mean and disrespectful. I couldn't get myself to go back after one day. The other servers were nice and helpful but I couldnt work for a company that let's its employees to be treated that way. One of the guys on the kitchen staff was mean also. I was on my first day and already he gave me attitude for not knowing the menu. Like walking around on egg shells there."

Former Employee - Server/Waitress says

"The rude employees the disrespect they give customers"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Horrible management, Back of house staff not all Serv Safe certified"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Roaches , drug user , re used food"

Former Employee - Server says

"If you were not liked by the server managers you were treated like crap. You were made to claim more tips than you actually made. Some days you would only have 6 tables for a 8 hour shift. You were are to claim $50 to $60 when you may have only made $20. If you did not, your hours would be cut and you were threatened by upper management, cooperate or find a new job. No customer volume. They would schedule 5 or 6 severs for slow nights. No host so you would literally have to fight for tables. Many nights I left only making $3 on a 4 hour shift and forced to claim $25 in tips. A few people had reported them to labor board, only for the board to come in on a morning shift, speak to morning servers (who could make $ cause business came in on morning shift) and server managers (who made server tips and mgmt wages), they would deny any problems on evening shifts. The ones that made reports to the board would then be bullied, hours cut or ultimately fired. Front managers are just a click and if they code they don't like you....your time is numbered."

Current Employee - District Manager says

"Buildings falling down. Broken or missing equipment. They don't pay their bills, which means, you can't get things repaired, or make needed purchases"

"Dishonest upper management, CFO lied about 401k, fired prior to taking 2 week vacations because management thought you were quitting, and horrible benefits"

Server/ Cashier (Former Employee) says

"All I can say, it was a job at the time but not my career path, I hated almost everything about it. Customers do not care about servers as to even look at them like another person. I loved some of the people I worked with. And miss them.To much to type."

"Very disrespectful to all the employees do lots of jobs for little pay while managers do nothing except fuss and complain no appreciation from any one owners on downNoneWork you a lot for little pay"

Waitress (Former Employee) says

"This is definitely an unfair work environment, management doesn’t recognize their employees, they have a lot of favorites over there. One manager is so difficult to work with it’s awful awful. The general manager is awesome, but he needs to put his foot down with the other manager. It’s a lot of drama, Shoneys is the WORSE job I’ve ever worked at. This is not a job for adults this is a job for high school students. We as Shoneys employees DO NOT GET PAID ENOUGH FOR THE WORK AND DRAMA WE PUT UP WITH!It’s a jobFavorites, unfairness"

Hostess and Server, bar attendendant, (Former Employee) says

Server (Former Employee) says

"We are over worked as staff. The pay is little to none. The building and is old and filthy & instead of restoring it they patch it up and thats it. Nasty, very nasty NoneNone"

Cook (Former Employee) says

"Employees were treated like they were garbage. Managers had their little group and they would not associate with regular employees and they would not do it through themselves. They would send what they had to say through someone that was socially disabled and didn't understand the job himself.1/2 proveNot advisabke work place."

Market Leader (Current Employee) says

"Poor pay, no benefits, bed culture. Owner and CFO exploit people and vendors some good people at the home office but they are also treated poorly. Never work for Shoneys"

Server (Former Employee) says

"I wouldn't pay to eat there, there's No Team work, Cockroaches, management SUCKS. They pick favorites and act like it's high school. Some of the servers think and act like their better than other Co-workers. They influence management. The place sucks 💯%"

Cook (Former Employee) says

"Shoneys is ok as long as management and everyone there likes you but we all know not everyone will like you anywhere. As at any job management has its favorites even though they aren't supposed to."

Server and Bartender (Former Employee) says

"Manager are all on drugs and steal from the company and cover for each other!! Treat & talk to employees like trash , absolutely no respect for their workers and do not know how to manage there crew let alone a company!! Pathetic! Princeton WV location is absolutely a bust!! Corporate needs to clean house there! Also the building is in horrible condition and they do patch work to hold the bug infested place together!!Go in high if you would like with no experience neededNo training, because there is no leaders in management"

Server (Former Employee) says

"The staff would smoke meth and weed in bathrooms and in dining areas after closing and turn the cameras down. They were racist homophobic and biased. They bag the food on the buffet in trash bags and reheat it multuple times for the buffet. Many dhec violations and drug trafficking going on at shoneys in lugoff sc."

Server (Former Employee) says

"Shoneys has very bad management. They do not care about their employees at all. Do not work for Shoneys! They are very slow at times so it is hard to make any money if you are a waitress. They told me they were remodeling the Florence store but I was told to go the very same day there to work. I went all the way to Florence and when I got their was told they were remodeling."

Server (Former Employee) says

"Poor management lack of communication with manager and employees managers would cuss you in front of customers and certain employees did what they want due to the friendships they had with management and most of the girls were two faced and Bullies you worked long hours for absolutely nothing maybe 30 bucks don’t waste your time if your an butt kisser also they are never fully staffed"

Restaurant Cashier (Former Employee) says

"Poor management. They didn't care what you had to do outside of work. Rude. No matter what is going on they expect you to put work first. I was a student at the time and had to argue several times just to be able to leave on time for class."

Kitchen Manager/Cook (Former Employee) says

"Understaffed and underappreciated. No compensation. Staff is treated like a slave instead of an asset. To many drugs within the crew. The price has risen and the quality of the food has suffered instead of what the customers grew to love in the what used to be homestyle restaurant."

Line Cook (Former Employee) says

"A good place to work for management dirty environment would not recommend they want to work here. Pour place to work I've done a lot better when it comes to a job.Free lunchPour management"
