Barbra L from Missouri shares her experience at Shoney's in a review published by TRIP ADVISOR: Do not eat here unless you like cold half-cooked food or a salad bar that the veggies are super soft and the coleslaw is spoiled the Salisbury steak is left in greasy water not fully cooked the wait staff is uncaring to the fact that the food in is such bad shape just a nasty place to eat. the restrooms had a smell that is like something died in there.

The other servers were nice and helpful but I couldnt work for a company that let's its employees to be treated that way. One of the guys on the kitchen staff was mean also. I was on my first day and already he gave me attitude for not knowing the menu. Like walking around on egg shells there."

Former Employee - Server says"If you were not liked by the server managers you were treated like crap. You were made to claim more tips than you actually made. Some days you would only have 6 tables for a 8 hour shift. You were are to claim $50 to $60 when you may have only made $20. If you did not, your hours would be cut and you were threatened by upper management, cooperate or find a new job. No customer volume. They would schedule 5 or 6 severs for slow nights. No host so you would literally have to fight for tables. Many nights I left only making $3 on a 4 hour shift and forced to claim $25 in tips. A few people had reported them to labor board, only for the board to come in on a morning shift, speak to morning servers (who could make $ cause business came in on morning shift) and server managers (who made server tips and mgmt wages), they would deny any problems on evening shifts. The ones that made reports to the board would then be bullied, hours cut or ultimately fired. Front managers are just a click and if they code they don't like you....your time is numbered."

One manager is so difficult to work with it’s awful awful. The general manager is awesome, but he needs to put his foot down with the other manager. It’s a lot of drama, Shoneys is the WORSE job I’ve ever worked at. This is not a job for adults this is a job for high school students. They are very slow at times so it is hard to make any money if you are a waitress. They told me they were remodeling the Florence store but I was told to go the very same day there to work. I went all the way to Florence and when I got their was told they were remodeling."
